Database of technologies for growing bioenergy crops

Purpose. To develop a computerized information system of database management for growing bioenergy crops. Methods. The theory of operations research, graphic schemes and methods of linear programming. Results. On the basis of research, the core modules for database information system of scientific support of the process of growing bioenergy crops were developed and processed, including requirements to interface of a database, the presentation of information, types of queries to database systems and scenarios for user interaction with the system databases. Tabular forms of databases Varieties and Hybrids, Weather Conditions for Growing Bioenergy Crops, Fertilization, Crop Protection, Cultivation, Technological Operation, and Economic Efficiency. Algorithms of databases and scenarios for user interaction were developed. Conclusions. Developed on the base of long-term data on growing bioenergy crops in a particular farm tabular form and content of scripts and interaction with the database user make it possible to accurately predict the course of growth and development of plants and recommend additional agronomic measures. Maintaining databases separately for each field of growing bioenergy crops provides the possibility of accumulation and rapid processing of large amount of analytical information.

Distribution and harmfulness of beetle stem weevil in Ukraine

Purpose. To identify the present habitat and areas of high infestation of beet stem weevil in Ukraine. Меthods. Field study, analytical evaluation. Results. It was revealed that beet stem weevil as species occured in cenosis of Odesa, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Poltava, Kirovohrad, Lviv, Khmelnytskyi Oblasts and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. Significant development and high harmfulness of phytophage in sugar beet crops during 2011–2015 was registered in Kharkiv, Poltava and Sumy Oblasts. It is also likely that high infestation of beet stem weevils can be found in the northern districts of Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk Oblasts and western districts of Luhansk Oblast, where, in the absence of sugar beet crops, they locally developed on weedy plants of the goosefoot and amaranth families. Conclusions. In recent years, global warming and general deterioration of agricultural sector created a favorable environment in southeast Ukraine for mass reproduction of beet stem weevil which, occupying free ecological niches, is transforming into a dangerous pest for sugar beet crops.

Formation of stability sugar beet plants harmful organisms in seed treatment protective-stimulating substances

Efficiency of new protective-stimulating formulations against pests of sugar beet sprouts has been investigated. It was established that the application of plant growth regulators in combination with protectants for seed pre-treatment can increase the efficiency of such formulations against pests and pathogens, in particular, improves field seed germination, initial plant growth and development, reduces the level of damage by beet flea beetles, beet weevils and black root.
